Whippoorwill Falls is a scenic shale outcrop which is home to snails and salamanders. Shale is a rock formed from the ancient shallow muddy seabeds, and was formed before the dinosaurs walked the Earth. Take a short hike to the waterfall and see how many snails and salamanders you can find. If you sign up for the Whippoorwill Trail hike, you'll get to explore the waterfall -- and go an adventure scrambling up the side of the falls! You can also take our Virtual Hike of the Whippoorwill Trail.
