July 2009: Ms. Duck Wins!
The story of Ms. Duck continues. . . with a most startling development. During the month of June, she tried very hard to make friends with the new ducks. They were bullies, though, and would not let her join them. She flew away for a week and we thought she was gone. She reappeared and, somehow, became the leader of the ducks.
The new ducks are old enough to fly and they needed someone to teach them how to survive away from the safety of Bunny Village. Ms. Duck leads them to food in the morning and to safety at night. Lily, the dog, still does her part and keeps the ducks company during the day - and perhaps watches over them at night.
This morning, all five ducks were standing at the edge of the pond, watching the campers paddle their bright-colored kayaks. The ducks seemed to be wondering what kind of ducks had landed in their pond!
All of the animals at Whippoorwill Farm are very hard-working, and doing their part to help to help the campers have the best day.
