Jan. 2009: The Morning Line-Up

The line forms along the road each morning in front of the pond. First in line is Lily the dog; second is Miss Duck; next is Spots, the office cat; then comes Buddy, the goat; and, finally, Milo the pig. They are watching and waiting for me to walk down the road and give them their morning meal. It is wonderful to feel wanted and needed each morning!
Miss Duck and Lily are still best friends. The cat, Spots, decided to investigate the duck's breakfast and, boy, was he very surprised. The duck lowered her head, pointed her beak and charged Spots. The cat ran away as fast as he could, with his tail tucked behind him.
The pond and surrounding area now belongs to Miss Duck. She looks so graceful when she flies over the pond and then lands like a sea plane, skidding to stop. Her day is spent nibbling at the edge of the pond and then quacking loudly at all friends. We enjoy being greeted by her when we walk by her domain!
All is well and everyone happy at Whippoorwill Farm.
